2PM DJ Elbow Knee Knee (all vinyl)

3PM Aaron Rito

4PM Wave

  • Wave is a fusion project that has recently planted its roots in the State College music scene. A versatile group of musicians, Wave blends a number of musical genres into their own unique style. Their sets highlight the sounds and voices of the 90s and early 2000s alternative hip hop/neo-soul scene with an added mix of both energizing jazz fusion instrumentals and more contemporary R&B. The project is led by Anton Fatula, a Centre County native who has been a well known figure in the State College music scene over the last few years.

5 PM Open Music

  • Open Music is an experimental music ensemble that has been presenting unique, adventurous, and thought-provoking concerts in and around State College since 2014. For this show, a 6-piece ensemble will perform works by visionary American musician Joshua Abrams. Abrams music occupies a unique corner of the grainy and meditative branch of minimalism. His group, Natural Information Society, is an eclectic ensemble that weaves hypnotic patterns in melody, rhythm, and drone. Open Music will present a program of two mesmerizing works by Abrams, performed by an eclectic instrumentarium of our own consisting of harmonium, dulcimer, oud, bass, and drums.

6 PM Big Lazy (NYC)

  • Big Lazy has flourished for over two decades in New York’s downtown music scene, playing their singular brand of noir and twang from dive bars to the The Whitney Museum of American Art. Big Lazy founder Stephen Ulrich is the composer for, This American Life,  the HBO series Bored to Death and the art forgery documentary Art and Craft. Stephen has also collaborated with with NYC luminaries Marc Ribot, Steven Bernstein, Peter Hess (Philip Glass ensemble) and Marlysse Rose Simmons (Miramar). Simultaneously noir and pastoral, gothic and modern, Big Lazy’s music conjures images from big sky country to seedy back rooms with deftness and a cinematic clarity. With sparse instrumentation – electric guitar, acoustic bass and drums – the trio forges American music from archetypes in Blues, Jazz, Surf, and Rockabilly.

“The Big Apple Crème de la Crème.” –Robert Christgau

“This band has sonic gravitas… and deep, dark grooves. No lightweight stuff here, just the real sound of a band with chops, intelligence and a sense of humor.” Sara Willis, Maine Public Broadcasting Network (MPBN)
